After
seeing what could be done with Prismacolor colored pencils I was
enthralled with the smooth glossy surface, and the detail that was
possible, with a very sharp point. My first color pencil original
was `Gathering Medicine', inspired by extensive travels in the southwest
US. It is the largest and most ambitious piece I have completed to
this date. Since then I have finished a number of smaller originals
in this medium as well. The technique of layering color upon
color is something that came naturally to me from my background in
layering colors for silkscreen design.
